Bildon Motorsport's Don Thompson Wins 2005 New York State Road Racing Championship (NYSRRC) Series
Thompson secures his second racing championship with a year-long dominating performance.
Syracuse, New York, December 11, 2005 - Local driver Don Thompson has won the New York State Road Racing Championship (NYSRRC) series for 2005 in his race-prepared Volkswagen GTI. Thompson dominated the Improved Touring B road racing class with two wins, five second place finishes, and a new lap record at Pocono Raceway.
Dual victories at the season opening event at Pocono in May set the tone for the 2005 season. "We ran all the events and won the championship in 2002 and after taking a year off in 2004, I was anxious to return with a full schedule for 2005," said Thompson. "We made some improvements to the car, but I didn't expect to have such a successful season right from the start."
Thompson attributes much of his success to his team and primary sponsor Bildon Motorsport who provided much of the Volkswagen-specific motorsport parts and advice. He also credited Kumho Tires for providing their race-proven Victoracer V700 tires all season long.
The NYSRRC series runs at race tracks in the Northeast such as Watkins Glen International, Pocono Raceway, and other challenging road racing tracks where elevation changes, left and right turns, and heavy braking and shifting are the norm lap after lap.

About the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA)
The Sports Car Club of America (www.scca.org) is a 65,000-member non-profit organization featuring the most active membership participation organization in motor sports today, with over 2,000 amateur and professional motor sports events each year.
The foundation of the SCCA remains its Club Racing program, as more than 8,000 licensed participants compete in 300 amateur road racing events conducted at the regional and national levels. The year culminates in September with the annual Valvoline Runoffs, which determines the national champions in 25 classes.
Race officiating is another important role of the SCCA. Every major U.S. road racing event is staffed by SCCA members working in a variety of capacities. The SCCA's 5,000 trained and licensed workers provide emergency services, course communications, timing and scoring, scrutineering, registration and marshaling for the course, pre-grid, pit lane and paddock.
