02A/02J Clutch Type Racing Differential

The Bildon Motorsport clutch type LSD is a "1.5 way" differential, having a cam lock type of engagment. "1.5 way" means that under braking or on the "coast side" as it's sometimes referred, the differential is still acting on the wheels but to a lesser extent than a "2 way" which is still fully "locked" under braking. By contrast a "1 way" is fully open on the "coast side".
When power is applied, it immediately engages the clutch packs, which in turn loads the wheels. This means immediate reaction time. The Torsen or gear type of LSD must have slippage in order for it to engage both wheels which costs you time.
How clutch types differ from Torsen or gear type LSDs. As soon as you get one wheel off the ground the Torsen becomes an open differential, in order for it to work both wheels must have complete contact with the ground. When you lift a wheel after hitting a curb or a rock on stage and you are "on the gas" you instantly have no power. The clutch type LSD is not like that. The LSD will remain engaged when a wheel lifts.
Additionally, different clutch packs are available for customizing your setup. The clutch disks however will rarely wear out under most types of competition however replacement parts are also available.
DBV1820R Is a rebuild kit comprised of new clutch plates, two cone springs and two thrust washers.
